Papal Audience or Papal Angelus

This tour collects significant places that joined Rome to Jerusalem in the third century, through the reproduction of artistic models of the churches of Palestine and through the transfer of the most prestigious relics

 

Day 1 St. Mary Major | St. Praxede

The tour start from the Papal Basilica of St. Mary Major, which preserves the relics of the Holy Crib where Jesus was put down. Next stop at the Basilica of  St. Praxede that houses a segment of the pilar upon which Jesus was flogged. Finally accomodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 2 St. John Lateran | St. Cross | St. John and Paul | St. Stefano

The tour starts from the Cathedral of Rome, called the Mother of all the churches of the world: St. John Lateran, where tradition believed to be the fragments of the table on which Jesus consumed the Last Supper); near St John there is the Holy Staircacase, traditionally built with stones trodded by Jesus during the “Via Crucis”. Then you reach the Basilica of the Saint Cross in Jerusalem, which houses the relics of the Holy Cross brought by St. Helena. In the afternoon, stop at the Basilica of St. John and Paul which houses a domus romana (visit to be confirmed) and a the Church of Santo Stefano Rotondo, which reproduces the Churh of the Resurrection in Jerusalem of the V century. Finally accomodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 3 St. Peter | Aracoeli | Mamertine Prison

This tour starts from the square of St. Peter, Bernini’s masterpiece and antechamber of the most important architectural complex of the Catholic world: visit of St. Peter Basilica. In the afternoon the tour continues to the Basilica Aracoeli, build for the franciscans friars in the XIII century: the church houses the relics of St. Helena, mother of Costantine and the first pilgrim to the Holy Land. Next stop at the Mamertine Prison, where Peter and Paul where imprisoned. Finally, accomodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Papal Audience or Papal Angelus

After breakfast it will be possible to take part to Papal Audience or Papal Angelus (to be confimed due to availability and dates)
